Chapter 6: Routine inspection and checks of the autoclave / steam sterilizer:
With the periodic tests you check the functionality of your autoclave. Learn more about the weekly, daily and batch-related routine tests of the autoclave in our video tutorial.
Please follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for routine operation and document the results. MELAG autoclaves are checked for proper function as follows:
1. Weekly routine inspection: Carry out the vacuum test once a week with a cold, dry autoclave without load. The vacuum test checks the autoclave for leaks in the steam system.
2. Daily routine inspection: Please check the door seal, the chamber, the mount and the door lock for any abnormalities every working day. It is also recommended to check the operation (e.g. power and water) and documentation media (e.g. network or CF card)
3. Batch-related routine check: Check the successful sterilization of the instruments with a batch test body.
Please use at least a class 5 indicator for sterilization and a MELAcontrol Helix test body for sterilization of critical A and B classified instruments.
